Yes, it is ticking towards eleven o'clock at night. Yes, I have swim practice at 6:30 in the morning. But the caffeine is currently winning the battle against Melatonin in my body right now so I may as well enlighten you on how we dormet-ized microwavable popcorn, right? Right.
A little background: Our dorm has five levels and two wings.....so, if I did my calculations correct that makes the chances of smelling microwaved popcorn at any given time, um, 100%. Now we're not galloping on our high horses BUT we are Self-Declared Junior Foodies (the business cards are on the way) so we're not just going to get our hands greasy and our fingernails yellow for any bag of popcorn. Hang on to your hats, this is a good one.
To start the mini-extravaganza (oxymoron?), Faulkner microwaved the popcorn in her room because the tray in mine doesn't rotate which results in burnt popcorn every time, guaranteed. "Not ideal" as Faulkner would say. During those, what, three minutes I got some of her buy-one-get-one-free caramel on the burner, with some butter (duh) and cinnamon (yum) and vanilla extract (double yum) and melted it into a molten goodness right as Faulkner returned with the college carbohydrate staple in a paper bag....aka popcorn. Then we carefully stirred the two together, threw in some of my refrigerated aging almonds (protein!) and ate a decent quarter of it before we stuck it in the fridge for cooling. It's that easy.
There you have it folks, a spruced up microwave popcorn!
Melatonin is making its comeback, think I'll call it a night.
Sweet dreams, don't let the bed bugs bite.
